Northeners heading south

I'm new to the RV world and am planning to go south this winter. I'm going to drain all plumbing before the cold sets in but should I put the pink stuff in? Then I would have to sanitize the system again when I get to warmer weather, or is blowing out the lines enough?

Got it home now the ?? start

Took delivery yesterday on our 1st RV. A Sierra 285RG 5th wheel. After we got it home we opened it up and plugged it in. After a few minutes I heard a sound coming from the fuse box that sounded like a fan running. Didn't here it at the dealer. Is there a fan behind the fuse box? Could not see it or feel anything. It did go off and on a few times so I'm thinking that this is normal but not real sure. Also the light fixture bases on the lights seemed really hot for them little bulbs. Would this be normal? Thanks for helping a 1st timer.

I need camping 101 help

Hello, I have just purchased our first camper a 5th wheel. We never have camped in any kind of trailer before. I have been reading the forums alot trying to educate myself some. It seems that most people do not travel with much water in there tanks. When you go to state parks that say only electric on the site is there a place where you can fill up the water tank? I guess I'll have to look and see if I can find a book on camping for dummies. Any and all info on how to use the camper and get started would be appericated. Thanks

1st rv-nervous- now what

Finally after reading the forum for 2 years we have bought a 5th wheel. Leftover 2007. I am really nervous about towing it. The biggest thing I have towed is a 4000# boat. But my questions I have now are what do I need to buy to use it. Are sewer hoses all the same length? How long of a water hose do I need? Power cord length? What else do I need to get started? Thanks for any info you might have.

RE: 5er Height Gauge?

Do you play golf? A golf ball retriever will extend to 12 foot long.

RE: What size 5er

From the way I understand these ratings you should be ok with a pin weight of 1500 or so.
Your GVWR of 9800
assume actual of 7500 ( need to go to scale with full fuel and passengers)
would leave 2300 for pin weight. Trailer with a GVWR of 12000# you should expect a pin weight of 2400# (20% of 12000}. Not sure why your combined cargo sticker says 2198 unless your truck weighs more or maybe your tires are a limiting factor
